Why we started

Four people from business, civil society, governance and engagement, connected to many parts of the world, kept arriving at the same uneasy feeling: the way we respond to connected challenges is not working well enough.

We began with a question rather than a plan. How do we align our resources, knowledge and energy to move from fragmentation to cooperation, and from us and them to a larger we?

So we spent ten months listening before proposing anything. What came back was not a shortage of effort. It was a shortage of connection between efforts that were already serious, already funded and already good.

We are not trying to become the centre of anything

The model is deliberately lean, and every organisation in it stays exactly as independent as it is today. If ReAlliance ever becomes a large institution competing for the same funding as the organisations it exists to strengthen, it has failed.

Anna Beaujolin Co-founder

Anna has spent over fifteen years working across business, philanthropy, public institutions and culture. At Publicis Groupe, she led international projects and sustainability work for the Group and its clients, including the World Economic Forum. Today, she works independently, bringing together people and perspectives to shape new initiatives and partnerships.

Sietze Hepkema Co-founder

Sietze is a lawyer with a career spanning business and governance. He was a senior partner at Allen & Overy, where he headed the global corporate practice, before joining SBM Offshore as Chief Governance and Compliance Officer. Since then, he has continued to work with companies and institutions on governance, leadership and organisational change.

Sam Muller Co-founder

Sam is an international lawyer who has spent more than 25 years working on justice and institutions. After the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, he helped establish the International Criminal Court. He later founded HiiL, the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law, and the Wildlife Justice Commission. He has worked across law, governance and institutional innovation, with a focus on making justice systems more effective, practical and accessible.

Robert-Jan van Ogtrop Co-founder

Robert-Jan is an entrepreneur and investor who has spent much of the past two decades working on business, nature and the circular economy. After an earlier career leading international businesses, he founded Circle Economy and the Foundation for Natural Leadership, and chaired African Parks from 2009 to 2022. His work today continues to focus on new models for business, investment and nature.

Moving from exploration to building: testing the model live in a first 7-Agenda focus area, with a small group of first-mover organisations and partners.
